Our “Babymoon” in SILENA – report on our experiences

Fane Alm ... Where alpine tradition is still very much alive and where milk still has the taste of grass.

We appreciate and we honor the real thing, authenticity. This is the source of our energy. And with values which last for a lifetime. Fane Alm at 1,739 m above sea level is just one of such gems that we love so much. We love to go walking here, far away from the hustle and bustle. We love to enjoy the gifts of nature such as the spectacles of the sunrise or the full moon.

If you wish, you can also during your hiking vacation in South Tyrol, drive by car for about 10 minutes away from the Fane Alm and then from there start your hiking tour through the Gitschberg-Jochtal mountain valley. If you are fit and foot-sure then we suggest a full-day tour on the Wilde Kreuzspitze (3,134 m), the main summit of the Pfunderer Mountain range. After an ascent of about four hours (walking time) you can enjoy the wonderful views over the Zillertal Alps and the Wilden See Lake. A hike of about three hours brings you back down again to the carpark.

In the winter you can discover the other side of the Fane Alm above Vals. Farms are more or less asleep and the animals have all been brought down to the valley for the winter, but there are still two mountain lodges which stay open and welcome you with a crackling open fire, tea and coffee. A chance to be a child again with red cheeks from the wind in your face – feel it when you take your sledge up the mountain with you and then toboggan down the Fane Alm to the valley in Vals.
