It's the people that give a place its soul. In the case of SILENA, these are not only SIMon and MagdaLENA, but also the many generations of the family before them. The Moarhof was the origin of our story. Here the journey started. It just appears in a different light now. Where there used to be a traditional house, today South Tyrolean art of living meets South-East Asian philosophy of life.

Magdalena is the “Lena” in the “SILENA”. Together with her brother Simon, she grew up on the Moarhof farm and hotel grounds. By nature, Lena is a very inquisitive person. From the Vals Valley, she ventured out into the wide world. She travelled extensively throughout South-East Asia. There she found her inspiration to transform the family-owned hotel. The SILENA achieves a balancing act: At the heart lies the traditional Moarhof and the old parlour, surrounded by highly modern architecture. Asiatic wellness concepts such as the onsen pool and tea ceremonies meet South Tyrolean tradition.

The most beautiful stories begin with courage. Together with his sister Magdalena, Simon is the other eponym and pioneer of the SILENA, your soulful hotel. Sports are at the top of his list of priorities. He especially loves mountain-biking on the trails of the alpine region Gitschberg-Jochtal. He is also a connoisseur. The hotel’s wine and cheese selection offers guests a glimpse into his refined personal taste. Eating well either before or after enjoying the South Tyrolean mountains, this is precisely what Simon loves to do, and he invites you as his guests to do the same.

Together with Sepp, she managed the Moarhof property. Back in the day, it was still a traditional hotel. Today, Ida’s talents are fully utilised in guest services as she accentuates the hotel’s soul. On her guided hikes focussed on breathing, she invites you to take part in the mysticism of the upland moor and always has a sympathetic ear and advice for any of your concerns. A fully committed host.

The generational baton handover was a success. Walking through the SILENA today, Sepp is overcome with a sense of pride when he sees what his children have accomplished. They have succeeded in implementing the South Tyrolean value system in such a way that it also speaks to the next generation of guests. Much has stayed the same – such as the beautiful mountains. Yet some things have changed. South-East Asia has made its way to South Tyrol. How wonderful that different generations can find fulfilment at the SILENA.

Whether Miriam can also juggle in real life we don’t know at the moment. But when it comes to getting things done in the hotel and satisfying your wishes, she is simply unbeatable. She supports Magdalena wherever she can and could be described as her right hand. Sometimes we wonder whether she has a secret timer because she often packs more into a day than other people. So you can only be dealing with a great juggler here. 

From mountains to valleys, Mirjam really knows her way around. Because she is an enthusiastic sportsperson. With an abundance of energy and a smile on her lips, she is always here for you. You’ll find her at reception, where as a gourmet she’ll also be happy to talk to you about great food and – of course – exploring distant lands. 

Steffi has a passion for all kinds of activities. Whether indoors or in the open air, it makes no difference to her. As a personal trainer she’ll accommodate all of your wishes. On organised hikes she immerses herself and the group deep in nature. Sport is her passion and empathy her special talent. She is always a willing listener and keeps the group together with her humorous approach.

Anyone who eats healthily is healthy. This is one of the maxims of Sonja, who as a seasoned bar and restaurant specialist has a personal and professional passion for gastronomy. In her service she strikes a skilful balance between the highest quality standards and a certain casualness. In her spare time she loves hiking, which is also the perfect antidote to the challenge of delivering high levels of performance in the restaurant. 

As our concierge, Lois knows our corridors, rooms and wellness facilities like the back of his hand. He has not only read the instruction manual for the SILENA, he actually wrote it. At home Lois has a farm where he spends as much time as possible in the fresh air. Which gives him a cool head for the various solutions he is always having to find at the SILENA. Anyone who meets him can certainly chat with him a little – he loves to chinwag.

She is at home in the spa area. As a massage therapist and beautician she boasts the necessary expertise to thoroughly pamper you. She works in a very clean and orderly manner, but it is her “magic hands” that you will remember. For a treatment with her brings instantaneous relaxation. With her sensitive manner and an abundance of empathy, Valentina is able to put herself in other people's shoes and respond precisely to their needs. 

As well as spending time with their two children, Simon's wife Lisa loves everything that is beautiful. She is a florist and a dab hand when it comes to decoration, always showing consideration for the environment and sustainability. Crafting and knitting are also among her favourite pastimes. And everyone can benefit from her expertise because she sells her homemade earmuffs and self-designed jewellery in the hotel shop. As well as the decorations, she is responsible for the beauty (and cleanliness) of the rooms. 

Dana is our housekeeping lady. She has a knack for order, which she proves every day at the SILENA, your soulful hotel. For ten years now she takes care of the beautiful rooms in our house, which welcome you immediately. In addition to the rooms, which she takes care of with a lot of love, she is a gifted seamstress. She loves the nature in South Tyrol and likes to explore it on long walks in her free time.
