Trail running during your active holidays in South Tyrol - Hotel Silena.

Trail running

Running at high altitudes has that certain something in itself.

And so do the views. If you are a practised runner and you know your way around the mountains, then perhaps you already know all the challenges of trail running. You are not interested in a comfortable hike but rather in a fast run at a high altitude where within the shortest time you are rewarded with spectacular views. From the Retreat Hotel SILENA in South Tyrol you can set off immediately. Our 4-star Superior Hotel in the sunny Vals Valley is situated at 1,354 meters above sea level. It is also right next to the valley station of the Jochtal cable car.

Story

Run free! In the nature surroundings of the mountains of South Tyrol.

Here with us in Vals, you have the optimum environment for trail running. Whether in the wonderful springtime or in the agreeable mountain summer, when the heat remains in the valley or perhaps also in the beautiful, long autumn in our valley. Trail-runners love to be out in the open air – and areas of very demanding terrain. What a perfect contrast to the asphalt roads and built-up areas of the city!

Interesting mountain profiles are of course found in the ski and holiday area Gitschberg-Jochtal. Right outside the SILENA, for example, is the 8-kilometer route to the “Brixner Hütte” (933 meters). Via the “milk trail” you reach the Fane Alm and then, through the Schramme and over the Hüttensteig, you come to the Brixner Hütte, where you can stop for a little refreshment. Or you can drive to the neighboring village of Meransen, where you can climb the Gitschberg up to 2,512 m (approx. 10 km, elevation almost 1,100 meter). At the summit you will enjoy fantastic views over the Dolomites.

Are you already a trail-runner or would you just like to try it out? Well, why don’t we run together? In our weekly program we often drum up trail-runners and interested parties for a run together. And then, we can also together enjoy a visit to a traditional alpine tavern. Afterwards, we recommend a leg massage in our SILENA SPA!
