You think cross-country skiing is boring? Then you maybe never tried it. Here you can find the silence and the unending panorama, nature and winter sun alongside the ski slopes. You can hear your heart beat in your chest. Interested? We show you the possibilities for some cross-country skiing around the SILENA in the Gitschberg-Jochtal area. Around 35 kilometers of cross-country ski tracks are available throughout the winter and are carefully maintained. Tracks lead through the valleys around Vals, Meransen, Pfunders and through the slopes of Rodeneck.
One of the four main cross-country ski tracks through the Gitschberg Jochtal in Pustertal is right outside the SILENA. So, simply leave your hideaway and off you go on your winter South Tyrolean holiday. A perfect start! The Vals circuit route of around seven kilometers begins and ends at the valley station of the Jochtal-Bergbahn. In between you can make yourself comfortable in the Kurzkofel cabin.
You are already winter fit and have ambitions for cross-country skiing in Val Pusteria? Then maybe you would be interested in the combination of the Rodeneck and Lüsner Alpine Loipe with an overall length of 18 kilometers skating and classic tracks. It begins in Zumis, which is located about half an hour’s drive from SILENA. On your tour through the snow-covered winter landscapes of South Tyrol with some amazing views over the Zillertal and Ötztal Alps, there are four mountain cabins which offer a refreshment stop: the Oberhauser Hütte, the Ronerhütte, the Rastner Hütte and the Starkenfeld-Plunahütte. Our tip: The tour is quite long, but there is only 225 meters difference in height; and on the high plateau you can tank up on some sunshine.
At the parking lot at Altfasstal, which is about 15 minutes by car from the SILENA, the 8-kilometer long cross-country ski track starts through the quiet Altfass valley near to the ski region Gitschberg-Jochtal. For warming up or cooling down we recommend the Großberghütte. Maybe you would also like to pack your toboggans in the trunk of your car? Then, at the end of a full activity-day in the fresh air, you could go up to the Moserhütte from where you can enjoy the ride down with all the screaming and shouting you want!
Are you new to cross-country skiing? Then you should definitely start by going to the Lobenweg-Bacherhütte track first! This track takes you through the Altfass Valley with a height difference of 270 meters, partly through the forest and with rewarding views over Meransen and the Eisack Valley. The Bacherhütte is also open over winter for food and drinks. This tour also starts from the car park Altfasstal.
Everything was lovely, the welcome, daily sweets at 3pm, yummy multi-course dinner every evening, huge breakfast buffet. The staff are super-friendly and genuinely so, the standard room I was in was spacious, convenient and had lots of nice details to it (tea kettle, knapsack for hiking, ...). My floor has a popcorn machine, the one above an honesty bar. Great also that you can attend free yoga classed and accompanied hikes.
Accommodation and personal were excellent. Great food. Wonderful and clean rooms. Our company enjoyed it very much. Highly recommended. Thank you SILENA the Souful hotel!!!
Fantastic place. Relax, tranquility, service and excellent food. Very friendly atmosphere. All stuff focused on customer satisfaction. Close to perfection...
In the Silena you will find spacious rooms, friendly staff, delicious food, the best breakfast ever, fully equipped spa, everything on the ski slopes just 2 minutes walks from the ski cabins. Moreover you are only 30 min drive from some stunning little towns like Bressanone, Brunico, Vipiteno or Bolzano.
We stayed at the Silena for our honeymoon and it was absolutely excellent!! There's absolutely nothing that we could fault, from the beautiful location, excellent facilities, gorgeous food to the wonderful family who run the hotel, led by Ida and Sepp. The staff at the hotel were so accomodating and no request was too much for them. The hotel facilities were excellent, and were perfect for a nice relaxing break.
